Meet Paul “Woody” Hover

Paul “Woody” Hover has spent decades working in underground and surface metal and non-metal mining environments in a variety of operational and safety leadership roles ranging from laborer to Health and Safety Manager.
Since becoming a member of the Homestake Mine Rescue Team in 1995, Woody has remained actively involved in mine rescue and emergency response serving as a team member, trainer, coordinator, and supervisor for emergency response operations.
This experience has helped shape Hard Rock Rescue into a practical, field-focused operation built around real mining conditions, operational readiness, and hands-on support.

Mine Rescue and Emergency Response Experience
Mine rescue and emergency response have remained a central focus throughout Woody’s career. Experience includes training, mentoring, planning, and operational leadership for emergency response and mine rescue teams working in demanding mining environments.
Woody completed his career at the Sanford Underground Research Facility (SURF) in Lead, South Dakota, serving as the supervisor for the combination full-time and part-time Emergency Response Team.
In addition to mining operations, Woody also brings decades of Fire-Rescue-EMS experience serving in volunteer and paid departments in leadership positions up to Chief of Department.
